I was born and raised in the beautiful San Gabriel Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles County. I graduated in 1983 from Temple City High School before heading off to Pasadena City College to focus on a career in music, dance and theatre. While attending college I had many opportunities to work in many different fields that engage the public. It was during this time that I realized that public service was what I was truly passionate about.
I made the decision to enter the health care field and within two years I had achieved my Registered Dental Assistants License from the Dental Board of California. I had my daughter in 1997 and learned what it meant to be a single mom, and struggling with Postpartum Depression led me to seek answers. There is no shame in learning from mistakes and experiencing personal growth. Its important to seek solutions for life and I enjoy sharing that passion. Later we would learn that our daughter struggled with bipolar disorder. It was an arduous journey however a successful one.I am proud of my daughter's ability to overcome so many challenges. We moved to San Bernardino when my daughter was finishing up high school and soon after she moved on to thrive on her own. The difficulty and personal growth in our journey motivated me to keep going and apply learned infrastructures to fill needs. When one door is closed another is sure to open. Its called HOPE and we strive to build it as one and as a collective awareness.
I involved myself publicly in my community and became effective on behalf of many causes. My related experiences include collaborative decision making roles that affect large populations and multiple ongoing trainings:
San Bernardino County Prop 47 Re Entry Steering Collaborative
SAWPA OWOW Grant Pillar Integration committee
ABC'S OF CONFLICT - Certified
Mental Health First Aid San Bernardino County - Certified
Child Abuse Prevention Training San Bernardino County
Senior Fall Prevention Collaborative
Homeless Youth Task Force San Bernardino County Collaborative
Fontana Community Coalition
Healthy Jurupa Valley Collaborative
Inland Empire Disabilities Collaborative
San Bernardino County Interagency Council On Homelessness Collaborative
It didn't take long to see that our precious Foster Children and At Risk Youth Populations need our greatest attention. Especially in the areas of learned self soothing, mood regulation and positive behavior management infrastructure and application strategies. It was a natural and organic decision to create Fostering Kids for Life and Its the best decision I've ever made! Come along - We Need you too!
